Global Recycling Day is a yearly event celebrated on March 18th, this year theme “#Recycling Heroes” recognises the activities of the people and places that showcase the important role played by recycling and the contributions made in stabling the planet environmentally.
It also aimed in raising awareness of the importance of recycling and encourages people to take action to reduce waste and protect the environment.
Recycling, an integral part of the climate change cycle that helps in promoting and protecting global sustainability, it’s projected to save over a billion tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2030.
Meanwhile, Recycling is acknowledged as the Seventh Resource upon which humanity depends for the supply of raw materials, which essential role was highly visible throughout the Covid-19 crisis.
Recycling day also brings together individuals, organizations, and governments from around the world in promoting sustainable practices and highlighting the benefits of recycling.
Environmental advocate, AlexGreat Akhigbe, who exhibited the role of a Recycling Heroe on one of his social media page, attributes the beauty of Recycling, by taking action in making changes to the usage of reusable bags, collections of wasted water bottles, reducing food waste, and properly disposing of hazardous materials.
