Nigeria Ministry, University to Join Forces on Green Solutions

The Minister of State for Environment, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako has assured of collaboration with the Federal University of Petroleum Resource, Effurun in Delta State to mitigate the nation’s environmental challenges.

A statement from the ministry stated that Salako said this while receiving the delegation from the University led by the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Akpofura Rim-Rukeh on a courtesy visit to the Ministry.

The minister disclosed that the National Policy on Environment developed in 2006 recognises collaboration with the academia due to the fact that evidence/interventions are based on research.

Salako revealed that the Ministry of Environment will look forward to collaborating with the FUPR after going through the critical areas of interest in their submissions.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the FUPR, Prof. Akpofura Rim-Rukeh in his presentation reiterated their support to the ministry to achieve its operations in the area of comparative advantage.

Akpofura noted that FUPR as a specialized research based institution look forward to the establishment of an environmental hub for training and research on the global best practices to tackle environmental challenges nation wide in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
