Nigeria media delegation embarks on cultural exchange visit to China

In a significant move to strengthen cultural and economic ties between Nigeria and China, a delegation of mainstream Nigerian journalists embarked on a cultural exchange program sponsored by the Consulate Office of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos.

According to the Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos. Ms Yan Yuqing, the is visit aimed at fostering mutual understanding and collaboration between Nigeria and China.

Upon arrival of the journalists in Beijing, they were warmly welcomed and the tour begins with a visit to the iconic Forbidden City.

Forbidden City, the historic site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that attracts thousands of tourists from China and around the world, those who have come to learn about its rich history and cultural significance.

Following their exploration of the Forbidden City, the delegation visited another monumental landmark that showcases China’s ancient engineering prowess and historical depth, “The Great Wall of China.”

The Great Wall of China marveled the Journalists, as the vast expanse of the wall, which stretches over 13,000 miles, and dated back more than 2,000 years offers a unique blend of history, culture, and breathtaking scenery.

The sheer scale and beauty of the Great Wall are beyond words, a well-preserved and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

“Though the hike was challenging and physically demanding, but it’s incredibly rewarding and efforts well-worth.”

The historical significance of the Great Wall and the architectural grandeur, makes it a truly global treasure.

Thereafter, the journey moved to Hunan province, one of the cradles for Chinese farming culture, located in central China, covering an area of 211.8 thousand square kilometers with the population of 73 million.

In 2022, Hunan province economy development increases, as GDP moved to 669 billion usd (4.8 trillion yuan). Hunan is ranked 9th in China with over 12 thousand years of rice planting history.

The capital of Hunan Province, Changsha, known for its vibrant culture, delicious and spicy foods. Changsha, serves as the center of politics, economy, culture, science, education and trade of Hunan, a key node city of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)

In Changsha, the team paid a courtesy visit to the office of China Africa Economic and Trade promotion council (CAETP), where journalists had interactions with Mr Xu Xiangping, chairman of China Africa Economic and Trade promotion council (CAETP) and Mr LI Zhensheng, Researcher of China Africa Economic and Trade promotion council (CAETP).

During the interaction, the chairman of China Africa Economic and Trade promotion council, Xu Xiangping said China Africa economic and trade promotion Council serves as a fundamental benchmark for boosting the bilateral cooperation between China and Africa.

Xu Xiangping said, “Our cooperation has boosted the Africa economic, and it’s efforts has also prompted trade.”

The delegation also visited the popular Mango tv station office and it’s well-known entertainment channel production facility.

Guangdong province was the next stop, a province that has established strong economic and trade cooperation with Nigeria.

Guangdong’s bustling markets and advanced infrastructure provided the journalists with insights into the economic dynamism of the region.

Throughout the visit, the delegates experienced the warmth and hospitality of the Chinese people, enjoying the traditional Chinese cuisine, which was noted for its spicy and delicious flavors. The accommodative nature of the locals left a lasting impression.

The cultural exchange program is expected to enhance the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China, and to promote greater understanding and cooperation.

The Consulate Office of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos expressed optimism that such initiatives would continue to build bridges between the two nations, fostering a future of shared prosperity and mutual respect
