The Kebbi state governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has identified safe and clean environment as the most profound measure and preventive medicine against diseases and illnesses.
This was his candid assertion at the flag off of the reintroduction of monthly environmental sanitation exercise weekend in Birnin Kebbi.
Represented by the deputy governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, the governor stated that his administration decided to reintroduce and reinvigorate the monthly programme because of its peculiar importance to human health and longevity.
“Clean environment and clean drinking water are highly necessary to the wellbeing of people to reduce airborne and waterborne diseases.
“My administration will maintain the enviable health position of Kebbi state to ensure that our people are healthy citizens and productive members of the society,” he said.
The governor cautioned the people not to expose themselves to dangers and hazards through dirtiness and unclean surroundings to ward off diseases, saying illnesses are preventable if communities keep clean environment and drink clean water.
